Peculiar Translations of PS2 Manuals - Parappa the Rapper 2 (7.4.2026)

Hello, I am back with a new one, this time it's Parappa the Rapper 2. I said previously that this wasn't planned for some time, but then I realized that this game isn't that long, around 2 hours or so for the main stuff, so I dedicated one afternoon to this game.
In terms of the translation, there isn't much to go off of, I don't know if it's my personal bias to favour this game more or if it's because it isn't based on a more recognizable IP. Doesn't mean that there isn't something to point out, like the fact that this manual is just a regular one opposed to the english release that was supposed to be cut out. I mean, it makes sense, there are multiple languages housed in this one, but the selection is interesting, to say the least. Greek and Portugese paired with Polish and Czech.

Language selection

Unique to the overall PAL release of the game, it includes a different rap on the backside of the game case, localized to each language and I gotta say, they did a job. It isn't bad for the time, atleast I think, they say that the Czech language has a very rich vocabulary in terms of poetry and rhyming (you can say that for every language tbh), but this doesn't do a very good job showcasing this.
As I said, there aren't any glaring issues in the manual, but I still found some, like this for example:

Stage selection

This section explains the stages in the game, but they translated it as a "room" instead, which is very odd, but it still was the time where using words borrowed from English wasn't common yet or at the very least, wasn't used in manuals until much later.
And the last one unfortunatelly, has 2 issues: one being the formatting on the Parappa's dad description being off (and also calling him "pop", which was somehow left over from the english release??) and Boxy Boy being an "explosive" friend instead of being called a boom box.

Boxy Boy and Papa Parappa descriptions

And that's it! Not alot to go through, I know... But I believe the next one's gonna be a great one, because it's NOT gonna be a PlayStation 2 game, we're gonna shift over to the other Japanese game company and check out Luigi's Mansion for the Nintendo Gamecube!
